Can a Skills-based Framework Resolve the Gender Gap?

September 24, 2024
Reef DF Ballroom
Historically, there has always been a “gendered jobs” gap. Certain industries were notorious for constraining women in the workplace or limiting their career opportunities. Fast forward to 2024 when labor shortages combined with skills gaps perpetuate the made-up narrative of jobs for men and jobs for women, which is neither practical nor just. Data shows that, overall, women are better represented in leadership today, but given their disproportionate representation in certain sectors, there’s much more work to be done. Will redefining traditional job descriptions through a skills-based framework accelerate much-needed change? In this panel discussion, we’ll explore how taking a skills-first approach can influence gender parity.
